Afghanistan is set to host an ODI tri-series in the United Arab Emirates, featuring Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, scheduled from October 17 to 23. This tournament serves as a lead-up to a broader series of bilateral fixtures, including three T20Is and two Test matches between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe. The T20I matches are slated for October 27, 29, and November 1, with the subsequent Test series beginning on November 5 and November 13, respectively.
The tri-series competition kicks off with a match between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh on October 17. Zimbabwe will then face the hosts on October 19, followed by an Afghanistan versus Bangladesh encounter on October 21. The tournament concludes with the final match on October 23. Prior to these events, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will engage in a one-off Test match held from October 9 to 13.
Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director Givemore Makoni emphasized the significance of the tour, stating, “This is an important tour for Zimbabwe, offering our players high-quality competition across all three formats.” He added that the ODI tri-series provides a rigorous test against two formidable opponents, while the Test matches are particularly vital for the team’s development in the longest format. Makoni expressed gratitude toward the Afghanistan Cricket Board for hosting the program and the Bangladesh Cricket Board for their collaborative efforts.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board also expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming international schedule. Chief Executive Officer Naseeb Khan noted that competing against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe across multiple formats will grant their players essential experience and provide fans with an engaging period of cricket. Khan reaffirmed the board’s dedication to securing consistent, high-level international fixtures, highlighting the value placed on their ongoing partnerships with both the Bangladesh and Zimbabwe cricket boards in facilitating these upcoming assignments.
