The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has formally notified the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding corruption approaches during the Delhi Premier League (DPL). A senior official from the state body confirmed that they have maintained regular contact with the board since investigative reports surfaced detailing illicit activities within both the DPL and the Indian Premier League.
Addressing the gravity of the situation, the DDCA issued a statement requesting an inquiry into the matter via established regulatory channels. A high-ranking official emphasized that anyone found implicated in anti-corruption breaches will face strict accountability. The league, which operated under the oversight of the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU), had dedicated anti-corruption officers attached to every competing team.
During the most recent season, wicketkeeper-batter Vansh Bedi reported an approach by a player from Uttar Pradesh directly to the ACSU. The 23-year-old, who was signed by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the 2025 season before being released and going unsold in the 2026 auction, has denied any involvement. In a social media statement, Bedi stated, “I categorically state that I am not the individual referred to by Ex-Ranji Trophy cricketer Rachit Bhatia in the Tehelka sting operation concerning alleged match-fixing involving a CSK player, nor do I have any involvement whatsoever in any such activity.”
The controversy stems from a sting operation alleging that a CSK player provided insider information to a former first-class cricketer from Delhi. The report claims this information was then sold to bookmakers based in London for INR 60 lakh per match during the 2025 season. The individual cited in the expose, who has appeared in six first-class matches, purportedly boasted of earning INR 3 crore from these transactions and claimed to hold influence over team information within a DPL franchise.
The Chennai Super Kings franchise has initiated an internal review of the allegations. Board members are scheduled to meet within 24 hours to discuss appropriate measures ahead of the team’s Annual General Meeting, which is slated for September 25. The report also notes that earlier, DDCA put out an official statement, saying, “Given the seriousness of the matter, DDCA has written to the respective authorities and shared the information that has come to its notice, requesting that the matter.
