Founded in 2015, the Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club focuses on discovering raw talent, fostering champions for the UAE national teams, and spreading athletic values throughout the community. Led by Chairman Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, the organization runs primary facilities in Al Rahmaniya and Industrial Area 18, alongside outdoor activities across public parks including Al Nouf, Al Nasseriya, Kshisha, and Al Majaz. It also collaborates with schools to spot promising athletes and forms partnerships for training camps, knowledge exchanges, and international competitions.

During the 2025-2026 campaign, athletes from the club captured a total of 1,280 medals, broken down into 396 gold, 424 silver, and 460 bronze. This haul featured 663 medals in jiu-jitsu, 327 in taekwondo, 225 in judo, and 65 in wrestling.

Community engagement remains central to the organization, highlighted by the seven-year-old “Our Sports Culture” initiative, which uses workshops and lectures to foster athletic awareness alongside dedicated programmes for senior citizens and families. Obaid Al Asam Al Suwaidi, Vice Chairman of the club, noted that this philosophy mirrors the directives of Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, prioritizing human development and sportsmanship. He added that the club continues to upgrade performance systems through modern data technologies and expanded partnerships.

Humaid Sabt Al Shamsi, Director of Sports Affairs, emphasized that the club’s strategy centers on long-term athlete progression and competitive triumphs. He pointed to achievements such as securing first place for the third consecutive time in the no-gi category of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, winning the overall men’s taekwondo title, and taking the UAE Wrestling Federation Cup. Furthermore, numerous club members have earned selections to represent UAE national squads across jiu-jitsu, taekwondo, judo, wrestling, and karate. The report also notes that while building partnerships for training camps, knowledge exchange and participation in regional and international events, it also works with schools and educational institutions to identify and develop promising athletes.
