Stuart Broad has publicly condemned Lancashire for their handling of legendary bowler James Anderson, describing the club’s recent actions as “pretty disrespectful.” The pair served as England’s primary bowling attack for a generation before Broad retired following the 2023 Ashes. Anderson, 44, was recently informed that his contract would not be renewed, bringing a conclusion to his 26-year tenure with the Red Rose county. Despite serving as captain and claiming 50 wickets in the County Championship last season, his future at the club was cut short.
The decision was driven by incoming director of cricket Paul Farbrace, who is aiming to rebuild the struggling side following their second-bottom finish in Division Two.
Speaking on the For Love of Cricket podcast, Broad expressed his frustration, stating he did not approve of the process. He argued that the club failed to handle the departure correctly and insisted that icons and greats of the sport deserve a significantly better send-off than they were afforded.
