Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has slammed his players following their 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion. The Spaniard claimed that they did not respect the game and failed to do the basics right. He went on to hit out at his Arsenal players, claiming that they lost their duels and said that they simply could not dominate the game or control possession. He added they failed to make the most of their chances too and said they did not deserve a result.
First-half goals from Pascal GroŸ and Charalampos Kostoulas, followed by a second-half strike from Chema Andres, sealed the win for Brighton. Arteta credited the Seagulls, saying they approached the match the right way and wanted the victory more than his squad.
In a bold statement, Mikel Arteta claims he knew Arsenal would lose after first throw-in. He stated that Brighton & Hove Albion were up for the challenge and wanted the win more than his players, and said the opening moments set a poor tone for his side.
With this defeat, Arsenal remain second in the Premier League table. However, they could fall three points behind if Manchester City beat Sunderland on Sunday, September 20. Meanwhile, Brighton & Hove Albion have jumped to third place.
