Real Madrid announced on Thursday the signing of 19-year-old Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from Leipzig. Spanish media reported the deal is worth a club-record 140 million euros ($161 million), including bonuses.

Los Blancos confirmed the agreement in a statement, noting that the player is “who is tied to our club for the next seven seasons, until June 30, 2033”. Madrid secured the winger after beating out competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, the latter of which had a bid rejected in June. PSG withdrew from negotiations due to concerns regarding the transfer fee.

Diomande arrives in Spain after spending one season in the German top flight with Leipzig, following a 2025 transfer from Leganes. He was named the Bundesliga young player of the season, recording 12 goals and eight assists. The winger also represented his country at the World Cup.

He becomes Madrid’s sixth summer signing, joining Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, and Carlos Espi. The club is currently overhauling its squad under new coach Jose Mourinho, who replaced Alvaro Arbeloa following two trophy-less seasons. Additionally, Madrid remains linked to Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
