Nottingham Forest have officially completed the signing of Colombian international Daniel Muñoz. The 30-year-old right-back has committed to a three-year contract at the City Ground, which includes an option to extend his stay for an additional season.
Muñoz arrives in Nottingham following a successful stint at Crystal Palace, where he became a key figure after moving to Selhurst Park from Belgian club Genk in January 2024. During his time in London, he played a pivotal role in the club’s historic 2024/25 FA Cup campaign; he provided the assist for the winning goal in a 1-0 final victory over Manchester City and was subsequently named Player of the Match. His contributions throughout that season also saw him named Crystal Palace’s Player of the Season, while he later helped the team secure the Community Shield.
The defender maintained his high performance levels last season, contributing four goals and three assists across 29 Premier League appearances. He featured in 46 matches across all competitions as Palace successfully lifted the UEFA Conference League trophy. Before his move to English football, Muñoz spent nearly four years at Genk, where he joined in 2020, scored 16 goals in 122 appearances, and won the Belgian Cup in 2021.
His professional journey began in Colombia, where he debuted for Águilas Doradas in 2017 before transferring to Atlético Nacional in 2019. On the international stage, Muñoz has earned 51 caps for Colombia since his 2021 debut, representing his nation in two editions of the Copa América and earning a spot in the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the move, Muñoz stated: “I’m really excited because I can see so much talent. Forest is a team with great players, great qualities, and great skills on the pitch. I can’t wait to get out there to help my new teammates, and I think we’re going to do great things.”
He further highlighted the club’s ambition as a primary factor in his decision, noting: “The first thing is that this is a winning club. The mentality of the management, the technical team, and the players makes it special. It is a club that has competed hard, reaching the Europa League semi-finals, and it has even greater objectives for the future. That is what I like about Forest, and why I decided to come here.” The report also notes that muñoz moved to Selhurst Park from Belgian side Genk in January 2024 and soon established himself as a regular in the Palace side.
