What we know about Team India physio Kamlesh Jain submits resignation

Published: September 10, 2026, 2:30 pm

Team India physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain has submitted his resignation to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Although currently in New Delhi with the squad for the three-match T20 International series against Afghanistan starting September 13, Jain has formally tendered his papers. The BCCI has yet to officially accept the resignation.

Notice Period and Tenure

Jain, who joined the national setup in June 2022, is currently serving a three-month notice period. Consequently, the upcoming series in New Zealand, concluding in early December, could be his final assignment unless the board chooses to relieve him earlier. The Chennai-based physio was originally recruited from the Kolkata Knight Riders during Rahul Dravid’s tenure as head coach, replacing Nitin Patel, who moved to the Centre of Excellence before joining the Mumbai Indians.

Reasons for Departure

  • Jain reportedly sought to step down due to the extensive travel demands associated with the national team role.
  • A source noted, “Although he has enjoyed his association with the Indian team, he wants to avoid travel because of a young family.”
  • There has been no immediate comment from the BCCI regarding the resignation.

Recent Staff Changes

Jain’s departure follows a series of exits from the Indian team support staff. Long-standing fielding coach T Dilip recently concluded his tenure following the tour of the UK. Additionally, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has moved on and subsequently joined the Kolkata Knight Riders.
