Amite Hasan Replaces Concussed Mominul Haque for Second West Indies Test

Bangladesh has officially recalled wicketkeeper-batter Amite Hasan to the squad for the second Test against the West Indies. The match is scheduled to commence in Sylhet on November 5. Amite, a right-handed batsman, steps into the lineup for Mominul Haque, who has been ruled out of the contest due to the mandatory concussion protocol. Later, team management officials informed that he will not take any further part in the match.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board stated that Mominul must adhere to a required seven-day rest period before returning to competitive action. This medical requirement follows an incident during the opening Test in Dhaka, where Mominul sustained a head injury while fielding at short leg. The blow occurred during the 78th over of the West Indies’ first innings as he attempted to catch Roston Chase, who was on 27 at the time. Following the injury, Mominul was sidelined for the remainder of that match, with Jaker Ali Anik serving as his concussion substitute.

For Amite Hasan, this selection offers another opportunity to prove his credentials at the Test level. He previously earned his sole Test cap earlier this year against Zimbabwe in Harare, where he recorded scores of 4 and 25. The national selectors have looked to his consistent run-scoring in domestic cricket to bolster the batting order for this vital fixture.

Bangladesh enters the second Test trailing 1-0 in the two-match series, which is a component of the ICC World Test Championship. The hosts are looking to bounce back after the visitors secured a decisive eight-wicket victory inside four days during the first Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
