India quick Kranti Gaud has been fined 10 per cent of her match fees following a breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Women’s T20 Asia Cup final in Dubai on Sunday, September 13. Gaud was found guilty of a Level 1 offence under Article 2.5, which pertains to using language, actions, or gestures that disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon their dismissal in an international match.
Match Incident and Sanctions
The incident occurred during the opening over of Sri Lanka’s chase. Imesha Dulani hit a boundary with a lap shot on the first ball, but was dismissed attempting the same stroke three balls later. Gaud was penalized for giving the batter a send-off by gesturing toward the pavilion. She received one demerit point, her first such offence within a 24-month period, and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Supriya Rani Das without a formal hearing.
Slow Over-Rate Penalties
- Pakistan were fined five per cent of their match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate in the semi-final match against Sri Lanka.
- During that contest, Sri Lanka successfully chased a target of 131, reaching it in 18.4 overs.
- Pakistan were ruled to be one over short of the target after time allowances were factored in.
- Captain Fatima Sana accepted the charge, which was brought forward by fourth umpire Rabab Ahsan.
