Saracens have confirmed the immediate dismissal of academy player Totoa Auvaa after a fresh incident occurred in St Albans this past Saturday. The 21-year-old Samoan forward had initially been removed from all duties while the club conducted a formal investigation into the matter.
In a public statement, the Premiership side explained their decision: “The club has determined that his conduct falls short of the standards expected of everyone who represents Saracens, both on and off the pitch.” The statement further emphasized that the team takes its responsibilities to partners, young people, and supporters seriously while maintaining a commitment to uphold high behavioral standards across the organization.
This development follows Auvaa’s involvement in a separate high-profile nightclub incident in June that also featured England cricketers Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson. During that event, a member of England’s security staff required medical attention after being struck by Auvaa. While the player faced no immediate sanctions at the time, a subsequent disciplinary hearing by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) cleared Stokes and Atkinson of violent conduct, though they were found to have breached contractual obligations.
Following the June event, Stokes and Atkinson were ruled unavailable for England’s second Test loss to New Zealand. Stokes, the former England captain, eventually returned for the third Test, which served as the setting for his surprise announcement to retire from international cricket at the series’ end.
