Sent in to bat first, the Sunrisers posted 166/4 from their 100 balls. Phoebe Litchfield provided early momentum with a 12-ball 27 featuring five boundaries, while Lauren Winfield-Hill (20 off 15) and Danielle Gibson (24 off 13) chipped in with vital cameos. The innings was defined by Sutherland’s late-game aggression; she reached her half-century and smashed three consecutive sixes off Ryana MacDonald-Gay in the final stretch, helping the team accumulate 35 runs from the last ten deliveries.
Chasing 167 for victory, the Manchester Super Giants initially looked competitive, building a 42-run opening partnership. Jess Jonassen broke the stand by bowling Smriti Mandhana for 28 off 17 balls. Although Grace Scrivens maintained a steady tempo, Richa Ghosh struggled to accelerate after being promoted up the order. The chase collapsed when both Scrivens and Ghosh were dismissed in quick succession off the 54th and 56th balls, respectively.
The Super Giants’ momentum stalled completely as the required run rate climbed. Meg Lanning was bowled by Jonassen for 10 off 15, and Kathryn Bryce was retired out for 15 off 14. Unable to find the boundary in the final stages, the Super Giants finished on 125/8, falling 41 runs short.
