The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is actively exploring the possibility of playing a bilateral series against Nepal within the current Future Tours Programme (FTP) cycle, which runs through 2027. Officials confirmed on Saturday, September 12, that they have received a formal invitation from the Nepal Cricket Association to compete in their home territory.
Shahriar Nafees, the BCB’s cricket operations in-charge, described the proposal as a positive development. He noted that while the board’s current schedule is densely packed, they are working to identify a viable window to accommodate the request. “The Nepal Cricket Board sent us a proposal quite some time ago, expressing their interest in playing a bilateral series with Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has taken that invitation very positively,” Nafees told reporters. He added that while no final decision has been reached, the board is committed to finding a suitable time if the logistics align with their existing commitments.
Beyond future planning, the BCB is currently focused on immediate preparations for upcoming international assignments. Nafees confirmed that the squad preparing for the Asian Games will begin specialized skills training on September 13. Simultaneously, players not selected for the Asian Games have already commenced a conditioning camp to prepare for the upcoming series against Afghanistan. This camp is scheduled to continue until the team departs for the United Arab Emirates.
Regarding the Afghanistan series, the BCB is awaiting confirmation on specific venues. Because the matches are hosted by Afghanistan, their cricket board holds the authority to finalize the locations. Nafees indicated that the venues are expected to be confirmed in the coming week, with potential sites including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Sharjah, given the limited options available in the UAE.
Looking toward long-term scheduling, Nafees emphasized that the board maintains a structured approach to planning. He explained that practice sessions and projections are typically mapped out a year in advance, with 2026 planning already established in 2025 and 2027 projections currently being drafted. This systematic approach allows the board to perform necessary fine-tuning as specific tour dates and formats are finalized, ensuring the team remains on track for all upcoming international challenges. The report also notes that hopefully this series can take place,” he said, if everything goes well. The report also notes that in between, whenever there are format-wise changes, we will try to take as much time as required for that preparation,” he said. The report also notes that or when we reach a position where we can say whether it is happening or not, then we will be able to inform you in due time, when it reaches a stage where it is possible to say something. The report also notes that then, when our two teams leave for two different places, the remaining players will go to the NCL. The report also notes that we more or less know when what will be played.
