Disha Biswas, Habiba Pinky Named in Bangladesh Women’s Squad

Bangladesh has finalized a 16-member squad for its historic first bilateral ODI series in Australia, featuring the inclusion of uncapped players Disha Biswas and Habiba Islam Pinky. Disha, a former Bangladesh Under-19 captain, is yet to make her senior international debut, while Habiba earned her sole T20I cap during a match against India in May 2024. The touring party is scheduled to depart for Australia on October 3.

Squad Returns and Experience

The selection committee has confirmed the return of Murshida Khatun, Sanjida Akter Meghla, and Dilara Akter. Murshida, who last represented the national side during the January 2025 West Indies tour, recently participated with the Emerging team in South Africa. Sanjida holds two ODI caps, and Dilara has appeared in three, with her last outing occurring during the Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan in April 2025.

  • Captain Nigar Sultana Joty will lead the side, supported by vice-captain Nahida Akter.
  • The pace bowling unit consists of Marufa Akter, Ritu Moni, Disha Biswas, and Habiba Islam Pinky.
  • Juairiya Ferdous, Sumaiya Akter, Fahima Khatun, and Fariha Islam have been excluded from the selection.
