Bangladesh’s ODI captain, Litton Kumar Das, has been officially ruled out of the ongoing tri-nation series in the UAE after failing a fitness assessment. BCB physiotherapist Bayejedul Islam Khan explained that although Litton attempted to push through a fitness test on match day, he failed to meet the required benchmarks. As a result, the team has called up Parvez Hossain Emon—who last featured in an ODI in July 2025—to replace the skipper in the squad. In Litton’s absence, vice-captain Towhid Hridoy will take over leadership responsibilities for the duration of the series. “He still tried to complete the fitness test today to see whether he could play. However, he could not meet the benchmark we wanted, so he is not available for this series,” Bayejedul added.
The team is also managing the health of all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraj, who missed the encounter with Zimbabwe due to a persistent fever. Officials confirmed that Mehidy remains at the team hotel as he has not yet fully recovered from an illness that has lasted three days. Despite his absence from the current fixture, he has not been ruled out of the rest of the tournament, provided his condition does not deteriorate further. A board’s official confirmed to this website that he is yet to recover fully.
Bangladesh is looking to regroup quickly following these personnel disruptions. The team is scheduled to face Afghanistan in their next outing of the tri-series on October 21. Team management remains hopeful that further recovery time will allow the squad to return to full strength for the subsequent matches.
