This week’s tournament in Indiana will serve as the final event of the 2026 LIV Golf season. The league officially confirmed on Monday that it has cancelled its Team Championships in Michigan, citing a need to focus on “building its next chapter.”
It had been widely expected that the event, originally scheduled from 27 to 30 August, would not take place. Speculation grew as ticket sales were halted and players, including Tyrrell Hatton, entered the British Masters during those same dates. Monday’s statement confirmed that the Indianapolis event will now double as the league’s final team competition.
The breakaway league has faced significant uncertainty since Saudi Arabia withdrew its financial backing in April. LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil, who recently confirmed that new investors have been secured, addressed the shift: “By concluding the season now, we can put our full resources behind what comes next and maintain the operational rigor this transition demands.”
O’Neil added that the league is being reimagined as a player-owned entity anchored in a sustainable business model. He noted that professional golf is more unified today than at any point since the league’s inception. Regarding the change, he stated, “Indianapolis will be a fitting finale for the league as fans have known it and the starting point for what we believe it can become.”
