Namibia is set to host South Africa and Zimbabwe for a white-ball cricket tour, featuring a T20I tri-series followed by a three-match ODI series against South Africa. All matches will be held at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek. The T20I competition begins on August 28, with the final scheduled for September 6, while the ODI series commences on September 9.
The tri-series serves as a foundational event for the 2027 launch of the Africa Cup, a competition designed to provide more African nations with opportunities to compete at the highest level. Additionally, Cricket Namibia has confirmed that all profits generated from the series will be donated to the Africa Cricket Association to support the growth of the game across the continent.
Cricket Namibia CEO Johan Muller expressed his gratitude, stating, “We are immensely grateful to Cricket South Africa and Zimbabwe Cricket for their commitment to this series, which reflects the strong partnership and shared vision to grow cricket across the African continent.”
South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe are joint hosts of the 2027 Cricket World Cup. Cricket South Africa CEO Pholetsi Moseki noted that the tour builds momentum for that event, adding, “We are excited to be part of this white-ball tour, which not only further demonstrates our commitment to strengthening the game in our neighbouring countries, but also builds excitement ahead of next year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will be co-hosted by all three nations.”
