Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele is undergoing treatment for a right calf issue, the club confirmed ahead of their Champions League final against Arsenal later this month. The 29-year-old Ballon d’Or winner was substituted after half an hour during Sunday’s 2-1 Ligue 1 defeat against Paris FC “as a precaution after experiencing some discomfort in his right calf,” PSG stated.
The club added that “Dembele will be having treatment over the next few days.” Despite the concern, the forward did not appear to be struggling when he left the field, boarding the team bus after the match without any visible limp.
Coach Luis Enrique addressed the situation on Sunday, stating, “I think it is just due to fatigue. It has been a tricky end to the season but now we have two weeks to prepare for the biggest match in our history.” Dembele has faced numerous physical setbacks this season, particularly involving his thighs and calves.
Other squad members are also managing fitness concerns. Achraf Hakimi resumed individual training on Saturday following a thigh problem, alongside Willian Pacho, Nuno Mendes, and Lucas Chevalier. All four players were unavailable for the match against Paris FC.
PSG recently clinched a fifth straight French title, marking a record-extending 14th overall, following a 2-0 victory over Lens last Wednesday. Luis Enrique’s side is scheduled to face Arsenal in Budapest on May 30, where they will attempt to retain the European crown they secured for the first time in club history last season.
