Tottenham Hotspur have finalized the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City, securing the 22-year-old for an initial fee of £75 million ($102 million). The deal, which could see an additional £10 million in add-ons, brings Tottenham’s total transfer market expenditure this window to over £300 million.
Savinho, who joined Manchester City in 2024 from Troyes for £30 million, struggled to secure a regular starting role during his two seasons with the club. Across 84 appearances, he recorded seven goals as City finished without Premier League or Champions League titles during Pep Guardiola’s final two seasons. Despite a successful loan spell at Girona, the winger has yet to replicate that form in the English top flight.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the move, Savinho stated, “It’s taken a while but I’m very happy to be here. It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world. As soon as I spoke to the head coach I knew I had to come. He told me he wants to help me reach the highest level and I believe we can do that together, as a team.”
Manager Roberto De Zerbi, whose late-season arrival helped Tottenham avoid relegation for the first time in 49 years, is looking to the new signing to revitalize an attack that faltered in a 3-0 opening-day loss to Brentford. “Savio is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions. He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity,” De Zerbi noted. “We’re very pleased to have him with us, and I’m looking forward to working with him, helping him continue to grow and seeing him bring his personality to the team.”
The arrival of Savinho follows a series of high-profile acquisitions for the club, including Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, and Jan Paul van Hecke, alongside free transfers for Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson, and Martin Dubravka.
