Wanindu Hasaranga is set to leave Sri Lanka’s tour of England early, having been ruled out of the remaining two matches of the three-game ODI series due to lower-back pain. The all-rounder sustained the injury during a training session held shortly before the series opener, for which he was sidelined.
Following an assessment of his condition, team management confirmed his withdrawal from the tour to prioritize his rehabilitation back in Sri Lanka. This injury marks another chapter in Hasaranga’s recurring fitness struggles; he was previously forced to miss the 2023 ODI World Cup due to a hamstring injury. Furthermore, during the 2026 T20 World Cup, a hamstring strain suffered during the opening match against Ireland similarly sidelined him for the duration of that tournament.
