London Spirit finished their 2026 Men’s Hundred campaign with a victory, overcoming Birmingham Phoenix in a clash between the tournament’s bottom two sides. The win allowed Spirit to avoid the wooden spoon, while Phoenix concluded their season at the foot of the table with only one win from seven matches.
Birmingham Phoenix batted first and posted 162 for 4. After Mitchell Owen, Joe Weatherley, and Laurie Evans were dismissed for single-figure scores, Joe Clarke and Sean Dickson stabilized the innings with a 92-run partnership off 47 balls. Clarke struck five sixes and four fours in his 42-ball 73 before being caught by Liam Livingstone off Henry Crocombe. Dickson remained unbeaten on 51 from 28 deliveries, including three sixes and four fours, while Donovan Ferreira added late momentum to push the total past 160. James Coles was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 1-25.
In response, London Spirit chased down the target with 18 balls to spare. Despite an early exit for Jonny Bairstow, who was dismissed by Saqib Mahmood, Liam Livingstone and Dewald Brevis dominated the crease. Livingstone was particularly aggressive, reaching his half-century in just 21 balls and hitting a 104-metre six. The pair added 103 runs in 47 balls, showing tactical discipline by minimizing risks against Usman Tariq, who conceded only 13 runs from his 20 balls.
Livingstone eventually fell for 66 off 30 balls, but by then, Spirit required only 13 runs from the remaining 30 balls. Brevis, who finished unbeaten on 55 from 31 balls, sealed the seven-wicket victory by hitting back-to-back fours off Rehan Ahmed. The final scorecard saw Birmingham Phoenix at 162/4, while London Spirit reached 166/3 in 82 balls.
Livingstone joined Luan-dre Pretorius, and after the latter fell for 16 off 11, combined with Brevis to take the game away from Phoenix.
They also managed the chase smartly, taking few risks against Usman Tariq, who conceded just 13 from his 20 balls, while steadily bringing down the required rate.
Earlier, Phoenix posted 162 for 4 after being asked to bat, with Joe Clarke and Sean Dickson building the bulk of the innings.
