A Sky Sports supercomputer has released its projections for the 2026/27 Premier League season, forecasting that Arsenal will successfully defend their title. Having secured their first league crown in 22 years last season by finishing seven points ahead of Manchester City, the Gunners are now backed to achieve back-to-back championships. Manchester City is once again predicted to take the runner-up spot in the final standings.
Liverpool, who finished fifth last term, are expected to climb to third place following the arrival of manager Andoni Iraola. Manchester United is projected to follow in fourth, despite former player Jeremie Aliadiere’s bold assertion that the Red Devils will mount a serious title challenge against Arsenal. Aliadiere maintains that United will be the closest competitors to the Gunners, even as he acknowledges that Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City will remain in the mix. Notably, Manchester United finished 14 points behind Arsenal last season, enduring their shortest campaign in history with only 40 matches played across all competitions.
Chelsea, who struggled significantly in the second half of the previous season to finish 10th, are predicted to secure fifth place, effectively claiming the final UEFA Champions League qualification spot. Tottenham Hotspur are expected to see the most dramatic improvement, jumping from 17th last season to sixth. Having narrowly avoided relegation by just two points previously, Spurs are now tipped to finish ahead of Aston Villa, who occupied fourth place last year. The top 10 is rounded out by AFC Bournemouth, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Brentford.
At the other end of the table, the supercomputer suggests that the 17 teams that maintained their top-flight status last season will avoid relegation once more. Conversely, the newly promoted trio of Coventry City, Ipswich Town, and Hull City are not expected to survive, with all three facing immediate relegation. Hull City is projected to finish at the bottom of the table. Meanwhile, Sunderland is anticipated to experience the most significant decline in performance, dropping from seventh last season to 15th in the upcoming campaign.
