Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign Aston Villa and England defender Ezri Konsa in a deal valued at more than £50 million. Manager Unai Emery addressed the absence of Konsa, alongside teammates Emiliano Martinez and Ollie Watkins, by stating, “They are joining us after this match,” following a warm-up game against Borussia Monchengladbach.
Villa’s squad is currently undergoing a significant period of transition as the club navigates strict Uefa and Premier League financial regulations. To remain compliant, the club has already offloaded several key players, including Morgan Rogers, who moved to Chelsea for a record £117 million, and Youri Tielemans, who joined Manchester United.
The defensive reshuffle also saw Lucas Digne depart for Paris St-Germain, with Matteo Ruggeri arriving from Atletico Madrid as a replacement.
