The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed the leadership roles for the upcoming India A women’s multi-format series against Australia A, scheduled for September and October. Anushka Sharma will captain the T20 squad, while Yastika Bhatia has been appointed to lead the side during the three one-day matches and the standalone four-day fixture.
Anushka, who made her T20I debut in April and has earned three caps, previously captained the India A side during their tour of England in June. Her T20 squad features 22-year-old Bengal batter Sujata Dey, who made headlines this past June by becoming the first woman to record a century in the Bengal T20 League. The T20 portion of the tour is set to take place in New Chandigarh.
For the one-day and multi-day matches, which will be hosted in Dharamsala, Yastika Bhatia will take the helm with Anushka serving as her deputy. Yastika returned to the national setup in May following an injury layoff and recently participated in the historic Lord’s Test, where she scored a century in the second innings. The four-day red-ball squad also includes specific inclusions such as Shubha Satheesh, Sushree Dibyadarshini, Shuchi Upadhyay, and Mamata Madiwala.
The T20 squad consists of Anushka Sharma (C), Sayali Satghare (VC), Vrinda Dinesh, Sujata Dey, Tejal Hasabnis, Nikki Prasad, Shipra Giri (WK), Shweta Sehrawat, Uma Chetry (WK), Tanuja Kanwer, Minnu Mani, Vaishnavi Sharma, Jintimani Kalita, Shabnam Shakeel, and Simran Dil Bahadur. The one-day squad includes Yastika Bhatia (C/WK), Anushka Sharma (VC), Vrinda Dinesh, Priya Punia, Tanisha Singh, Tejal Hasabnis, Nikki Prasad, Uma Chetry (WK), Minnu Mani, Amandeep Kaur, Vaishnavi Sharma, Sayali Satghare, Jintimani Kalita, Shabnam Shakeel, and Akshita Bhagat. Finally, the four-day squad features Yastika Bhatia (C/WK), Anushka Sharma (VC), Shubha Satheesh, Priya Punia, Tanisha Singh, Tejal Hasabnis, Nikki Prasad, Mamata Madiwala (WK), Sushree Dibyadarshini, Shuchi Upadhyay, Vaishnavi Sharma, Sayali Satghare, Jintimani Kalita, Shabnam Shakeel, and Akshita Bhagat.
