The 23-year-old required medical attention and was assisted off the field on Tuesday, just six minutes after entering as a substitute during his side’s 4-2 friendly win over Heidenheim. The incident mirrored a similar collapse that occurred during Saturday’s 3-1 friendly victory against RB Leipzig in Munich.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Musiala sought to reassure fans by explaining the medical cause behind the episodes. He confirmed that he has been diagnosed with “temporary, brief, but easily treatable absence seizures,” which he attributed to a “neurological dysfunction.” The midfielder noted that while the incidents may appear alarming to observers, they are currently a managed part of his daily life. He expressed optimism regarding his recovery, noting that he is receiving high-quality medical care with the full support of his family and FC Bayern.
Following the match at Heidenheim, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl confirmed that the club was fully aware of the player’s condition prior to the game. Eberl stated that the club had been monitoring the situation closely and that the player was stable in the dressing room following the incident. He emphasized that the club was prepared for Musiala to address the matter personally.
Musiala’s recent health challenges follow a difficult period of recovery for the German international. He missed the first six months of the previous season after sustaining an ankle fracture during the 2025 Club World Cup. Despite that lengthy layoff, he successfully returned to action in the second half of the campaign and went on to start three of Germany’s four matches at the 2026 World Cup.
