Brazilian midfielder Fabinho has officially joined Trabzonspor on a two-year contract, marking a reunion with his former Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah. The 32-year-old arrives as a free agent following a three-season stint with the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad. According to the Turkish side, Fabinho will earn 4 million euros ($4.66 million) annually, a figure significantly lower than the 17 million euros the club pays to Salah.

Fabinho’s career is highlighted by his pivotal role in Monaco’s 2017 French league title victory, which led to his move to Liverpool the following year. During his tenure at Anfield, he became a cornerstone of Jurgen Klopp’s tactical system, helping the club secure the 2019 Champions League, the 2020 Premier League title, and the 2022 FA Cup. Salah, who received a hero’s welcome upon his arrival in Trabzon in early August, has already made an impact, scoring twice during his first Turkish league start this past Sunday.

Trabzonspor, which finished third in the Turkish top-flight last season, is currently preparing for a crucial Europa League playoff fixture. The team is scheduled to face Hungary’s Ferencvaros this Thursday for the second leg of the tie, where they will look to overcome a 1-0 deficit. The report also notes that fabinho was one of the key figures behind Monaco’s French league title in 2017 before joining Liverpool the following year.
