Muthoot Fincorp Secures BCCI Home Season Title Sponsorship

Muthoot Fincorp has secured the title sponsorship rights for Indian cricket, covering all international and domestic matches hosted in India until March 31, 2028. The deal, which takes effect immediately, will debut during the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies, starting September 27 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

The agreement covers a slate of approximately 35 home international fixtures, including 10 Test matches, 12 ODIs, and 13 T20Is. Market insiders indicate the deal was negotiated at a base price of INR 4.85 crore per match. This figure represents an increase over the previous tenure of IDFC First Bank, which had been paying INR 4.2 crore per match.

The BCCI’s search for a new sponsor faced delays due to a lack of interest during the formal Invitation to Tender process, which had an original deadline of August 13. With no competitive bidders emerging, the board transitioned to direct negotiations with various parties, including Google Gemini, Spinny, SBI Life, and the incumbent IDFC First Bank. While SBI Life opted not to take the title slot, it joined Campa and ChatGPT as an Associate Partner for a two-season duration.

Often referred to internally as ‘Blue Muthoot,’ this partnership marks a significant transition for Indian cricket’s sponsorship landscape. Although some reports suggested the final valuation might settle below the stated base price, full financial clarity is expected upon the formal disclosure by the BCCI. The report also notes that commencing with India’s home series against the West Indies and running through March 2028, the three companies have signed agreements for a two-season period. The report also notes that in part, to the high base price, industry sources attributed the lack of interest.
