India has revealed its squad for the upcoming home series against the West Indies, featuring both ODIs and T20Is. This shift sees Rahul replace Shreyas Iyer, who previously acted as deputy during the England ODI series. Nitish Kumar Reddy has been moved from the Asian Games squad to join the ODI setup, with Punjab batter Naman Dhir and Auqib Nabi receiving their maiden national team call-ups for the one-day format. Yashasvi Jaiswal is also included as a backup opener.
The BCCI has confirmed that Varun Chakaravarthy will miss both the upcoming T20I against Japan and the Asian Games due to a side strain. Vipraj Nigam has been named as his replacement for these assignments. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has been omitted from the ODI roster, as Dhruv Jurel has been selected as the secondary wicketkeeper. Pant is set to lead the Rest of India side in the upcoming Irani Cup. Other notable absences from the ODI squad include Ishan Kishan, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, and Shivam Dube, all of whom are slated for Asian Games duty, with Yash Thakur replacing Rana in that group.
Shreyas Iyer retains his leadership role for the one-off T20I against Japan and the Asian Games competition, which partially overlaps with the home one-dayers. Following the conclusion of the Asian Games, the primary T20I squad will return to face the West Indies, with Iyer again captaining the side alongside the regular T20I contingent.
