India captain Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the first day of the three-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka XI, currently underway at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground in Colombo since August 7. In his absence, KL Rahul is leading the side.
The BCCI confirmed that Gill sustained an impact injury to his right ring finger during practice on Thursday. His absence is a precautionary measure, and he remains under the supervision of the BCCI medical team. India’s upcoming tour includes two Tests against Sri Lanka, with the opening match scheduled for August 15 in Galle, followed by the second fixture in Colombo beginning on August 23.
