Spain international Ferran Torres, who scored the decisive goal in last month’s World Cup final, has officially signed with reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain. The 26-year-old forward moves to the French capital from Barcelona for a reported fee of 50 million euros ($58 million).
The club confirmed the acquisition in an official statement, announcing that the Spanish World Cup winner has committed his future to the Ligue 1 title-holders until 2031. This transfer reunites Torres with PSG coach Luis Enrique, who originally handed the forward his international debut during a 2020 Nations League match against Germany.
Addressing the media on Saturday, Luis Enrique praised the new signing’s versatility and tactical fit. “Ferran is a top-class international player, who we know really well,” the coach stated. He added, “We have players who have or are leaving, so it is important we find this type of player.”
Torres, who also won Euro 2024 with Spain, expressed his confidence in the project, noting that PSG had not lost their hunger for success despite winning back-to-back Champions League titles. “I’m delighted to be beginning a new adventure at such an ambitious club as Paris Saint-Germain,” Torres said in the club statement.
The forward originally joined Barcelona from Manchester City in the 2022 January transfer window. During his tenure with the Catalan giants, he scored 65 times in 207 appearances, including a crucial goal in the 2025 Copa del Rey final victory against Real Madrid.
Barcelona issued a formal response regarding the departure: “The club would like to express its gratitude to Ferran Torres for his commitment over the last four and a half seasons as a Blaugrana and wishes him all the best for the next stage of his professional career.”
The arrival of Torres in Paris may influence the transfer market, potentially raising Premier League side Liverpool’s hopes of signing PSG’s 23-year-old winger Bradley Barcola, who delivered a standout performance for France at the World Cup.
