Following her ejection, Carrington took to the social media platform Threads to suggest the incident was linked to racial dynamics, prompting Gaines to retort, “That this is Black privilege.” Beyond this post, Carrington also utilized X to highlight the date of the upcoming final matchup between the Fever and the Sky, fueling speculation about further on-court intensity between the two teams.
The physical altercation between Carrington and Cunningham required teammates to intervene as the players exchanged words.
