Bangladesh has called up 17-year-old bowling all-rounder Farjana Easmin to its squad for the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 in Dubai and the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya. She steps in for left-arm pacer Fariha Islam Trishna, who has been sidelined due to a Grade II tear in her right thigh. Medical assessments confirmed the injury following an MRI, and the 23-year-old is expected to undergo a recovery period of four to six weeks.
Farjana, a right-arm seamer, earned her spot after demonstrating consistent form during recent intra-squad matches. Nasiruddin Faruque, the women’s batting coach and former head of the Bangladesh Emerging squad, praised her versatility, noting, “I have seen her during her stint with me in the Emerging squad. She has a natural slower ball along with her variations, while she can also contribute with the bat down the order.”
The national team is scheduled to depart for Dubai on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 26, to begin their campaign.
