Sri Lanka Cricket has named former international player Hashan Tillakaratne as the batting coach for its Senior Men’s Program. In this role, the 59-year-old will provide specialized instruction to national team players based at the SLC National High Performance Center.
Tillakaratne brings extensive coaching experience to the position, having previously served as batting coach for the men’s national side, head coach of the Sri Lanka women’s team, and head coach of the Bangladesh women’s national team. His current appointment is effective immediately and is scheduled to run through December 31, 2027.
A distinguished figure in Sri Lankan cricket, Tillakaratne was a member of the 1996 World Cup-winning squad. During his playing career, he accumulated more than 8,200 runs across 83 Test matches and 200 ODIs. The report also notes that his appointment takes effect immediately and continues until December 31, 2027.
